Keeping creativity brewing

20014 Lois Keller, "brewing" pencil on paper
Pencil drawings, sketches, my favorite.  My little girl is an early bird like me, and I haven't been able to draw much.  I also got in the bad habit of social media in the morning, bad idea.  All of a sudden my brain and whole being enters the world and all creativity is gone.  So I will post this year all scratches and scribbles, to keep it flowing, because I can't see any big paintings in the future, but I will keep it brewing.

Max

I kinda love this underpainting so much, it really captures the furriness of MAX my Corgi-mix doggie that came into our lives in November.  It's just burnt umber and oil.  I love painting what I love!!

I love you cashew!

My husband is a writer, I am an artist.  We have launched a new business called Nary Dairy.  One year ago we drove back to the midwest, wondering if we should give up on LA...on our dreams.  Well, one date and a few sketches on a paper napkin and Nary Dairy was born at Atomic Cafe in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Now we sell our delicious cashew cheese in two farmers markets and people are asking us to ship it all over the country.  I guess being creative is just that, making stuff, making a life, making something that wasn't there before...there.  But, hopefully this is just the beginning of the story.

My Family in Oil Paint

I'm learning a lot from Julia Diller and the great people every other Tuesday.  Most importantly, patience.

Trout in Aspic

While working at Le Quatre Vent, I had a lovely lunch in the big house with Mr. and Mrs. Cabot.  Trout in Aspic was served, which I had never had before and needed to preserve the memory in paint, just like this fish in jelly.
