I like the progression this guy took. I start out drawing what I see, and then slowly gain confidence in myself and the hat gets bigger and bigger and his body gets smaller and smaller and I start to have fun developing the character. If only I would take the time to go even further....

Gary Baseman and Calef Brown were at Storyopolis last night! Wow, how cool to have two great illustrators at Sunny's favorite bookstore. ANyway, Gary Baseman's work is truly inspiring in how prolific and creative he is, and he was really nice too.

Illustration Friday- DEPTH

These are tiny gouache images (5" x 8"), I did these while I was pregnant and terrified. I wanted to do a new drawing for this week, but really felt these approriately described the feeling of "Depth." Hopefully they are not too small to see. And, thank you for the comments last week, really helps keeps me drawing!
