New Blog 40 weeks

I'm gonna make a new blog, entitled 40 weeks, the gestation period of a human baby! I made a sketch book of the days I was first pregnant with my daughter, Sunny Rae..... although I got a beautiful baby out of it, I didn't get too many finished drawings. This time, (yeah, right) I am going to try and make them more complete. Let's see if it works. All it takes a little motivation mixed in with dry heaves and narcolepsy. Click on the title and you are there...

These are from the first time around...

Illustration Friday- CHANGE

40 WEEKS

Well.... I'm going to have another baby, it's gonna be a big change for everybody!

Figure Drawing from Top to Bottom

I just started taking this figure drawing course at the animation guild from Karl Gnass, he's a great teacher, he's an expert on anatomy but emphasizes the importance of story and character in a drawing. His philosophy to a great drawing is this...
1. Gesture- The best part! The statement of your intent through expression.
2.Conceptual- The hard part and most cerebreal, volumizing and giving dimension and defining shapes.
3. Finish- Now, select your visual field, how to use what I see to tell a story. Emphasis, with organic rhythms and landmarks and muscles and center lines.

I'm posting these drawing to track my progress. Sunny goes to pre-school all day on Friday, so it's awesome to have a whole day to devote to drawing. These are five minute poses.

Rational Recovery

I have had the power to overcome alcohol addiction for over 10 years, I read this tiny book called Rational Recovery, and through the support of my husband I have maintained sobrieity, because I decided to. No god involved, no meetings attended or apology letters to write. Simply through my own strength of power I do it, and I continue to make a decision not to drink, every day.
This drawing was inspired by the story that Robin Williams in in re-hab and he was in a "meeting" not participating and with his head down. I just wanted to let people know there are OTHER ways to beat it. The 12 step program, although it works for some is not for everybody, and that you do not have to give yourself up to "God" or some other "higher power" and have no control over anything you do.

Take responsibility for your actions, your life, your everything, and life can be what you make it.
